Weddings & Venue Bookings
You are very welcome to hire our 1875 Heritage Listed Settlers' Church for your Wedding or Civil Union (hire fee $500), Baby Naming, Baptism or other Venue booking (hire fee on enquiry).
Wedding hire includes the day before for you to get organised and also decorate the Church if you wish.

We are all volunteers so there may be a delay before we can respond to your query.

Surrounding building construction
There is a lot of building construction going on around us so best to come and have a look and see if you are happy with the construction surroundings, and take a drive around the neighbourhood.
The Ryman Keith Park Retirement Village apartments overlooks the Church and graveyard on our north and east boundaries.

Wedding & Civil Union Booking Information
Wedding and Civil Union hire is $500.
Wedding hire includes the day before for you to get organised and also decorate the Church if you wish.
The simple interior of the Church building with its soft lighting is pretty enough that you may not think further decoration is necessary.
A $200 booking fee is payable upon confirmation of your booking, with the remaining $300 payable 6 weeks before your wedding please.
We can give you a key to the building, and you then return it to us after your Wedding.

Celebrants
Wedding or Civil Union bookings from all, any, or no denomination are welcomed.
You provide your own Celebrant. There are no rules around which Celebrant, or religious, or non religious Celebrant you can use.
Kimberly Sanders, Celebrant at Lucky In Love Weddings offers mini wedding packages at the Church.

How many guests can you seat
Our little Church is lovely for intimate weddings with say 6 people to up to 100 guests maximum seated on our original pews.
What we do and don't have
We are a Heritage Listed building.
We do not have internet (wifi), live streaming capabilities, or a sound system.
You can set up your own speakers to play music.
We have an organ in the Church for your use.
There is no piano.
We have no air-conditioning for heat or cooling.
Our restored windows all open.
We have portable heaters.
We have bathroom facilities (not wheelchair accessible), and an area for catering with hot water, sink, small fridge. There is no oven.
You can bring your own catering, and clean up afterwards, and take your rubbish away.
There is a Fire Extinguisher, Automatic Fire Sprinklers, and a First Aid Kit.

Flowers and DecorationsFloral decorations in the Church are your responsibility.
Flowers and bows may be placed at the end of pews using ribbons.
These must be removed after the service please.
Please do not use any kind of adhesive on our historic kauri furniture, or use wire which may damage the building or furniture.
The altar can be turned around to either show a cross on one side, or no cross, depending on your preference.

Flower petals, rice and confettiFlower petals, rice and confetti may be used outside the Church. It is then your responsibility please to clean up the grounds after the ceremony. This can be done the next day by you or family and friends.No flower petals, confetti or rice in the Church building please. The flower petals stain the original kauri floorboards, and the confetti and rice get caught in the floorboards.
CandlesFire safety regulations do not allow any candles (open flames) in our historic Church, and we really don't want the building accidentally set on fire. One option is the use of electric candles or electric tealights.
GroundsThe grounds are regularly maintained. Marriage or Civil Union LicenceYou will need to apply to the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages for a marriage licence at least 3 working days before you get married and costs $150. Here is the link to the NZ Marriages online application. You will have to provide our street address: Hobsonville Church, 1 Scott Road, Hobsonville, Auckland 0618
