Hobsonville Church & Settlers' Cemetery

Built in 1875 of pit sawn kauri, the Church is nondenominational and belongs to the local community.

The Church is surrounded by a historic graveyard where families of the original Hobsonville settlers are buried.

Today the Church and cemetery is in the care of the Hobsonville Church and Settlers’ Cemetery Preservation Society Incorporated.  The building was lovingly restored in 2000 and more recently renovated in 2017.  The Church is available for Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms and other services for all denominations.

A lovely Wedding Venue

Our historic little Church is the ideal venue for intimate weddings.  The Church still has its original kauri pews which can seat up to 100 people.  We welcome wedding bookings from all denominations. The Church is available for you to bring your own celebrant or alternatively, we can make recommendations for you.

Wedding hire is $500 and includes the day before in order to decorate the Church.

A $200 booking fee is payable upon confirmation of your booking, with the remaining $300 payable 6 weeks before your wedding.

For wedding bookings please use our Contact Form or you can call our Weddings / Bookings Co-ordinator Leanne Midgley on 021 688 164.

Flowers and Decorations:

Floral decorations in the Church are your responsibility.  Flowers and bows may be placed at the end of pews using ribbons. These must be removed immediately after the service please. Please do not use any kind of adhesive on our historic kauri furniture.  Similarly, the use of wire which may damage the building or furniture is not permitted.

Flower petals, rice and confetti:

There is to be no flower petals, confetti or rice in the Church. The flower petals stain the original floorboards, and the confetti and rice get caught in the floorboards.

However, flower petals, rice and confetti may be used outside the Church.  It is then your responsibility please to clean up the grounds after the ceremony. This can be done the next day by family and friends, please chat to our Weddings / Bookings Co-ordinator to confirm arrangements.

Fire safety regulations do not allow any candles (open flames) in our historic Church. One option is the use of electric candles or electric tealights.
